Preview of Engadgets “SonyEricsson Play Review”

Hello everybody! And welcome to the latest edition of our “lets use our time machine to travel into the future and read some yet unpublished Engadget articles”…

The SonyEricsson Play

This is what you will see on the upcoming issues of the iNgadget:

  • Engadget will build a lot of hype around the new Play phone
  • The editors will writes miles about this new powerful phone, they argue for hours whether the CPU is a 2.0 GHz dual core or a 3.0 GHz quad-core.
  • … and then …

  • When the real hardware arrives, the Engadget crew phone will be “disappointed” to see that it only houses a single core Cortex A8 at 1.0 GHz (e.i. same CPU as Apple A4 in iphone 4, but clocked 200 MHz higher)
  • They will also be extremely disappointed that the Play market lacks high quality AAA games such as “Action Solitaire” and “Ninja Zombies vs. Angry Robots” that we are used to from the App Store.
  • Engadgeters will also notice that the pich-zoom function in the launcher is very laggy.
  • Oh yeah, no pinch zoom in the games at all. What??? Is this 1987 or something?
  • Verdict: 5/10

There you have it.

LOL this made me laugh. Actually, I just stumbled across your site after I was bored in class and googled “why engadget sucks” hoping for a hilarious read! 😀

Engadget is such a POS excuse for journalism. I wonder why AOL is still paying those idiots, and why companies still send them products to review???!!

The stupid engadget writers need to stop being biased towards apple!

My desktop is a Win7 quad-core, watercooled behemoth.
My laptop is a 2nd gen aluminum macbook pro.
    My phone is an android.

fckin engadget, open your eyes and realize there is a world outside of apple.

You have pretty much nailed it when it comes to Engadget’s review style.

Build up hype for a product and then act extremely disappointed to mask any bias. The nitpicking they do to knock off points from rival gadgets is ridiculous, while on the other hand they give Apple products a pass for major negative points.

Anyway they will be slobbering over themselves for the next few days over the iphad 2. Too bad it won’t be as good as other tablets coming out this year.

If it is the same CPU @ the same speed, how can it then be 200 Mhz faster?

      @Andréa:

      duh!
you may need a pair of new glasses…

the Apple A4 is basically a Cortex A8 clocked at ~800Mhz
